Sometime in Fall 2021 (21)

Well, it’s … as amazing as it can get? I mean I skated all the way from my room to Nust Medical Center, got checked by a doctor, meds and all and now returned all the way to my room .. skatinggggg. Haha me is unstoppable (quite literally) ๐Ÿ˜‚ …. I’m countering my shyness and learning to skate at the same time!

Well one bad thing happened though. I forgot my helmet down at NMC ๐Ÿ˜… so I skated back to get that. Anyways, what else now? Cafe, done. Grinding the footpaths, done. Extreme uphill and downhill, done. NMC, done. Now I’m learning to do two things, spin stops and speed skating. Tbh, I don’t even think spin stop (fancy looking spinning in one place until you stop, trick) is good for stopping (it’s not). Like .. if you are going downhill and slow, and you just want to enjoy yourself and do some tricks along the way, sure then spin semis and fulls and get low and slow and smoke and text on tires … But when like traveling, from one place to another on skates, you gotta build speed. The more speed means more spins to stop. And that’s not really a good thing. Human body is not made to spin ๐Ÿค

For now, I am 5/10 on the T-stops. That’s the only one I use. You balance your body right in the centre of one foot and keep gliding on that foot, bring your other foot back making 50ish angle with the front and shift your body weight (which mainly would be on the centre of the front foot you are gliding on) to that back ‘angled’ foot. You stay in this position as long as you want, keep moving ahead and keep the brakes applied. T stop is for downhills and like having fun. The one bad thing about it however is, you wear out the tires real quick, especially on here on asphalt roads. You are literally “grinding” your way to a stop. On the other hand, spin stop keeps the tires safe but it is not a long constant brake, more like an immediate stop. Maybe I can combine the T-stop at large speeds and spin stops at the end of it, to you know, get the best of both. I’ll try it out the next few days and see if it works.

Anyways, sorry for giving you that unwanted stopping guide. And … Is there any ice-rink in Islamabad? Someone told me yesterday that ice-skating is kinda same to inline skating, and I want to try it out.
